The short answer: buy Swingman for wearing, Authentic for collecting. The longer answer is about construction, cut, and how the details age.
Fabric and weight
Swingman uses a lighter, softer mesh designed for casual wear. Authentic uses a heavier, closer-to-game fabric with more structure. You can feel the difference immediately, but you will also feel it in summer.
Numbers and letters
Swingman details are typically printed or heat-applied. Authentic details are stitched tackle twill or the manufacturer’s on-court process. Printed numbers can crack if you tumble dry them; stitched numbers generally age better.
Cut
Authentic is cut closer to the player spec: longer body, tighter chest, narrower shoulders. Swingman is more forgiving. If you want to wear it to a game with a hoodie underneath, Swingman is usually the better call.
Collectability
Authentic holds value better, especially for marquee players and limited editions. But condition matters more than label. A creased Authentic is worth less than a clean Swingman.
