Sale season produces two kinds of offers: genuine clearance on last season's licensed stock, and discounts that exist because something is wrong with the listing. This checklist tells them apart.
1. Is the version stated?
Replica, Swingman, Game, Limited, Authentic, Elite — the version should be named. A listing that only says “jersey” is hiding something, usually a lower tier than the photos suggest.
2. Who is the seller?
Amazon.com, Amazon Resale, and league shops are identifiable. Third-party names you cannot verify are the main source of misdescribed product. Check the seller field before the price.
3. Is the size really available?
Discounted listings often show a low price for a size that is out of stock, with the real price on the default variant. Open the size selector and confirm the price changes only with size, not with seller.
4. Is it a variant trap?
One listing can cover dozens of teams and colours. The parent ASIN is not the product you are buying. Confirm the exact child option before adding to cart.
5. Are custom names returnable?
Customised jerseys are usually final sale. If the discount is on a custom item, the size risk is entirely yours.
6. Does the return window survive the holidays?
Check the return window against the gift date. A 30-day window that expires before the recipient opens the gift is not a real safety net.
7. Is the discount plausible?
Clearance on last season is normal. A current star's jersey at a fraction of its usual band is not. The gap is the warning.
